You can now take your bracket and the supplied screws, along with your screwdriver and attach your bracket to the wall. Using a hammer, lightly tap the wall plugs so that they are flush with the wall. Once the holes have been created, the wall plugs can then be inserted into the holes.
Now, with your drill, take it up to your markings with the 6mm masonry bit attached, the hole should be slightly deeper than the length of the supplied wall plugs, this can then be repeated for both brackets and all markings. You can take your shelf brackets and line up to the top with your line in position, and mark the fixings holes onto the wall with a pencil. You first need to determine where you would like your shelf to be, it may be worth offering the shelf up to the wall to see if you like the position before you drill any holes into the walls, once you have decided where you would like your shelf to be take your spirit level and mark a level line with a pencil, where you would like the bottom of your shelf to be. Lastly, you’ll also need a hammer to gently tap the wall plugs in, a screwdriver to tighten screws and most importantly for safety, some protective eyewear. The wall plugs and screws come supplied with any of the shelf brackets purchased on Oak & Forge. This includes a spirit level to ensure brackets are level, a tape measure and pencil to mark out where you’ll want your shelf brackets to be, a drill and a 6mm masonry bit to drill holes for the brackets.
When you receive your cast iron shelf brackets the box will contain the brackets and the fixings that you’ll need to attach your shelf bracket to the wall (please note that our ironmongery products come with a light coating of oil, this is to protect the metal in transit from the factory, this can be removed with a rag or piece of kitchen roll).īefore you start fitting them, you will need a few additional tools to install.
